This project is a large bowl that stands 5 in and is 7 in wide. The surface of this bowl is very rough and has clear glaze, turquoise glaze, blue glaze, and dark green glaze. I first used a sponge dipped in clear glaze to cover the bowl so the surface would be rough. Next I used a paint brush to draw a circle in the bowl with blue glaze, and dark green glaze. After that I used a thinner paint brush to dab spots around the bowl with the turquoise glaze. A new skill I learned would have to be centering large amounts of clay, and this bowl is the largest project I have thrown.
These are my two plates, one large and one small. The smaller one is half an inch tall and is 4 inches wide, the larger plate stands at 1 inch and is about 7 inches wide. Both of these plates have rough surfaces, the small plate was covered in clear glaze which was dabbed on with a sponge. Next I used my fingers to draw on a tic tac toe design with a brown glaze which is filled with blue glaze. After that I covered the larger plate with clear glaze using a sponge, and then used a thin paint brush to draw random designs using shadow green glaze, black glaze, blue glaze, and a dark green glaze. I learned to take more clay off when I foot my projects and these plates were surprising to me.
This was originally supposed to be a bowl but then started bending due to the walls being so thin. After the walls started to fall i decided to go along with it and make a wheel altered project. I dumped the project in clear glaze and then dumped it again in white glaze. This wheel altered project stands about 3 in tall, and is about 2, 1/2 in wide. When I was footing some other type of clay stuck to the rim and mixed with the clay i was using which turned some spots into a dark greenish color. An art element would be form and texture because the project is 3D shape with length, and its outside surface is rougher than the inside.
This was the third bowl I threw on the wheel. I glazed the bowl with a clear glaze and then used shadow green, black and orange to make a peace symbol inside the bowl. I also used shadow green to paint lines on the outside to express its bowl like features. This bowl stands about 4 and 1/2 in tall, and 3 I n wide. I used a thin paint brush for the detail on both the inside and the outside. An art element would be line because the lines within the bowl lead viewers eyes to a focus point.
