This is my set of three bowls which is also my theme. The set of three bowls all contrast to one another, there is a large wide bowl, a medium sized bowl and then a smaller bowl. All three of them were glazed with the same kind of glazes. When glazing these bowls i dipped each and every one in the sand glaze, after drying i used a thin paint brush with baby blue and orange glazes to draw designs within the bowls. Skills i learned when making these bowls would be using precision and a little amount of glaze to draw detailed designs. These bowls show movement and balance, they also mean a lot to me saying they are the best bowls that i have thrown.
This is my lidded project and it stands about 5 inches tall and is about 4 and a half inches wide. When glazing the lid and the cylinder i dipped both in clear glaze first, then I drew designs on the bottom of the lidded project. Once the lid dried I then dipped it in a white glaze. I learned when making this lidded project how to measure clay when throwing and how to make two pieces fit together. This is the first successful lidded projects that i have made.
This is my planter that stands about 4 inches tall and is about 6 inches wide. when glazing this project I just dipped it in clear glaze and left it at that. When making this planter i learned a new skill which was throwing evenly throughout the planter to make it more of a form. This would be the third planter that i have made.
This is my vase that stands 5 inches tall and is about 4 inches wide. When glazing this vase i first dipped it in a clear glaze, then i used dark green, and baby blue glaze to draw a design throughout the inside of the vase. A new skill i leaned when making this vase would have to be pulling the calls evenly.
This project is a large bowl that stands 5 in and is 7 in wide. The surface of this bowl is very rough and has clear glaze, turquoise glaze, blue glaze, and dark green glaze. I first used a sponge dipped in clear glaze to cover the bowl so the surface would be rough. Next I used a paint brush to draw a circle in the bowl with blue glaze, and dark green glaze. After that I used a thinner paint brush to dab spots around the bowl with the turquoise glaze. A new skill I learned would have to be centering large amounts of clay, and this bowl is the largest project I have thrown.
These are my two plates, one large and one small. The smaller one is half an inch tall and is 4 inches wide, the larger plate stands at 1 inch and is about 7 inches wide. Both of these plates have rough surfaces, the small plate was covered in clear glaze which was dabbed on with a sponge. Next I used my fingers to draw on a tic tac toe design with a brown glaze which is filled with blue glaze. After that I covered the larger plate with clear glaze using a sponge, and then used a thin paint brush to draw random designs using shadow green glaze, black glaze, blue glaze, and a dark green glaze. I learned to take more clay off when I foot my projects and these plates were surprising to me.
