This project is my smaller bowl that stands about 3 in tall and is about 4 and a half inches wide. When glazing I used just clear glaze and nothing else. But this time is didn't dunk the project, instead I used a small sponge and would press it full of clear glaze around the bowl. An art design for this small bowl would have to be texture because its rougher than most other projects.
This is my large bowl, it stands about 4 inches tall and about 8 inches wide. I made this bowl specifically for ice cream, on the inside of the bowl there are four corners underneath the dark brown glaze. When glazing I used clear glaze for this main glaze, then I used blue, shadow green, red, and a purple in four triangles. The dark glaze dividing these colors is dark brown which is also splattered around the large bowl. An art design for this large bowl would have to be color because it does define lines and shapes.
This is my set of three bowls, I threw one after the other trying to make them similar in shape. When glazing these projects I decided to give each of them a separate design from the other. The first bowl stands about 3 and a half inches tall and is about 4 and a half inches wide. When glazing I dipped the bowl in clear glaze, then I used a thick paint brush to draw the design within the bowl. Next I dipped the second bowl in clear glaze and after that I used a thick paint brush to draw the swirl to the outer edges of the bowl. The second bowl stands about 3 inches tall and is 4 and a half inches wide. For the third bowl I dipped it in clear glaze, and then dipped it once more in white glaze to make a plain bowl. The last bowl stands about 4 inches and is 3 inches wide. A new skill i learned when throwing these bowls was using the measuring tool to figure out how tall and wide my bowls are. These bowls represent three of my most favorite types of ice cream. The first bowl would be for cotton candy with vanilla and chocolate syrup, the second bowl would be strawberry vanilla, and finally the third would be just straight vanilla bean.
This is the first bowl that I have thrown this year. Is stands about 3in tall and 4in wide. It has a smooth silky like texture to the outside and inside. I used just about six glazes for this bowls design. I first dipped the bowl in clear glaze and then used purple, shadow green, black, orange and Mat Turquoise for the inside design. I just used orange for the outside design, and while I was drawing the design I learned that it is more efficient to use a thinner smaller paint brush for advanced designs. The lines on the inside of the bowl emphasize the roundness of the bowl. This bowl is one of my favorites because it expressed happiness and peace.
